A test and characterization PCB made for the Type X1 DC Amplifier. The Type X1 is an upgraded design over my Type X design from 2004. The Type X DC Amplifier was intended for accurate DC service, but obviously AC performance is important also. The 2004 design actually worked, but I was not satisfied with its performance. It used fewer parts, but the part-mix was not doing what I wanted. The output drive was not symmetrical and it was limited, DC offset trim did not work so well, and it had more pulse abberations than I would have liked. After a lot of intervening time, and more fully grasping how to design and apply reference current sources the new Type X1 fixes all those problems and more, with significanly higher performance.
